They’ve paid homage to the industry’s biggest stars, including Madonna, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry, so it was only going to be a matter of time before ‘Glee’ approached one of the biggest names in pop history– Britney Spears!
Yup, show creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that not only will Brit Brit’s music be used on the show, but the super star herself will be making an appearance!
And it seems the cast of the hit show are just as excited as fans to have the come-back queen on set. Heather Morris, who plays ditzy cheer leader Brittany told MTV News:
"I get to do Britney Spears! I'm hearing rumors from other people that she's supposed to be coming ... that'd be so nerve-racking," she said. "I like 'Toxic' the best or the 'Slave' video. It was always her best performance. She's rocking! I don't care what I do."
Jenna Ushkowitz who plays Tina, added: "I mean I can't really give away songs, but I know we've seen pictures of Lea [Michele] in a sports bra".
"Some old Britney, some new Britney, some Brittany of our Brittany from the Glee club. So it should be funny," Jenna said. "We're really excited. I love Britney Spears."
But, what fans really want to know is whether the show will pay tribute to Brit’s infamous meltdown, in particular, that umbrella attacking, head-shaving episode…

"All rumors," Mathew Morrison said. "I think you might be surprised. I don't think I'll be performing any [songs]. I might sing a little bit of 'Toxic," he added. "I'm not sure. We haven't really got too far in the script yet, which is why I don't know too much about the head-shaving thing."
But Ryan seems to have other ideas about how the Britney ep will play out. He described the episode as "reverential...and so kind...We are handling Britney with kid gloves".
"I really admire what she's done with her life and how she's turned herself around," Murphy said. "Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she's been through a lot."
In other Brit Brit News, rumours are swirling that the starlet has a whole swag of superstar producers and talent lined up to appear on her next eagerly anticipated album including Pharell, Chad Hugo, JR Rotem and former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi!
While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, who is reportedly working on her next album, cryptically said: "Britney fans are gonna be so happy in a few weeks."
We can’t wait! Hook it up Brit!
