Brit singer Ed Sheeran has opened up about his invitation to tour the US with chart-topper Taylor Swift, calling the opportunity “mind-blowing.”

The pair, who co-wrote the track ‘Everything Has Changed’ on Swift’s smash hit album ‘Red,’ will head out on an extensive North American tour beginning in March next year.

"This is actually my biggest outing to date," Sheeran told MTV News yesterday.

"I've never gone on tour for six months without any break. I've never really touched multiple arenas, so that's going to be a bit mind-blowing."

And despite his debut album ‘+’ already selling nearly 200,000 copies to date in the States, 21-year-old Sheeran is well aware that the tour with Swift could take his career there to the next level.

"I think Taylor's just opening up a lot of doors and it's up to me to make sure that I get through to them," he said.

"It's a massive opportunity for me and I want to make sure to grab it with both hands...it will be exciting to be back in a situation where I'm playing in front of people who are complete strangers and I have to win them over."

In other news, Ed recently debuted some new ink – the name of Taylor’s new album ‘Red’ – which led to some speculation that the two could be more than just co-writers!

But the singer maintains that the tattoo is merely a historical marker.

"I get tattoos for landmarks," Sheeran said of his substantial collection.

"When my album came out all around the world I got the world tattooed ... If I'm going to be on tour with this album for six months I thought that would be quite a big part of my life."

Make sure you catch Ed Sheeran's amazing set from the iTunes Festival when it airs Friday November 9 @ 8pm on MTV!
