The future of AC/DC's Melbourne show has been thrown into chaos with the AFL claiming they have the rights to the venue, Etihad Stadium. In an argument that sounds an awful lot like a high school showdown between football jocks and musos, concert promoters and the AFL are both saying they both have iron-clad contracts for the dates AC/DC's tour falls under; February 11, 13 and 15.

According to the AFL's chief broadcasting and commercial officer, Gillon McLachlan, “…this has nothing to do with AC/DC. Skilled Stadium (in Geelong) is being redeveloped and the MCG is unavailable (because of cricket wickets).” Concert promoters aren't buying it and the argument has now spilled out of boardrooms and into the public sphere.

Speaking with media, concert promoter Garry Van Egmond was adamant the shows weren't going anywhere. "We're going ahead as planned. We couldn't, we wouldn't even consider it. We've got dates in Japan after this, which we can't change. We've got three dates booked, we've sold 180,000 tickets and there's still some tickets available for the third show. We're going ahead - full steam ahead. We've got a watertight contract."

The last time AC/DC toured Australia was in 2001, so anticipation for the shows is extraordinarily high.
