According to the Associated Press, a huge storm uprooted trees which smashed into the rigging bringing the whole stage down last night.
Foo Fighters, Katy B and 30 Seconds To Mars were among the artists booked to perform at the now cancelled event.

Taking to twitter the Foo Fighters reacted by saying,
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the tragic events at Pukkelpop.”

Jared Leto front man for 30 Seconds To Mars tweeted,
“Crazy storm at Pukkelpop in Belgium – not sure we will be able to go on stage – stay tuned. Safety first.”

British songwriter Katy B wrote on her twitter page,
“Can’t believe the storm at Pukkelpop festival so sad that people have passed away love goes to those that are injured too.”
60,000 people were thought to be at the alternative rock festival – one of Europe’s largest outdoor events just outside Brussels.
This tragedy comes days after the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair in the US. Five people were killed when a gust of wind toppled the stage just moments before headliners Sugarland were about to perform.
