Talking to Access Hollywood, the glowing soul-diva, along with hubby Nick Cannon confirmed that there will be a baby arriving in spring and that the last few months have been an "emotional time for them."
The ‘Touch My Body’ hit maker also revealed about how tough it was to keep the big secret, with the singer and her husband having to constantly field questions.
"It's been a long journey, but it's been tough because I've been trying to have ... to hold onto a shred of privacy. And that was not easy," she told Access Hollywood. "It's still early, I'm expecting in the spring, I'll say that. I don't want to give too much of like, specific outlines."
Mariah, whose constantly expanding waistline prompted rumours of a bun in the oven months ago, also talked about suffering a miscarriage two years ago, which left the star devastated.
"It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult,” says Mariah when speaking about the miscarriage. “When that happened… I wasn't able to even talk to anybody about it. That was not easy.”
But, as the old saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining, and Nick says the experience only served to bring them closer together.
“It definitely brought us closer together. It strengthened our relationship so much… she handled it so well.”
He's calling their new baby, “The greatest gift on earth.”
