Tour influenced by Maurice Sendak's children book "Where The Wild Things Are"
Mar 13, 2009
Fall Out Boy are breaking out the Wild Thing on their fall tour - but they're leaving Tone-Loc at home..
Rather, their upcoming arena tour will be influenced not only by Maurice Sendak's classic children's book "Where the Wild Things Are" but also the new breed of Hollywood Wild Things - the Lindseys, Britneys and Parises of the world.
FOB bassist Pete Wentz insists it all makes sense.
" 'Where the Wild Things Are' is a great narrative," he told MTV News. "It encapsulates pretty much every FOB song ever written: You know, tantrums and monster islands and all. And it's kind of a takeoff on the idea of young wild things wearing Dior ankle-monitoring bracelets."
The tour, which will go by the handle the "Young Wild Things Tour," will crisscross the US from October to December.
Though Wentz isn't exactly sure how Sendak's images will be incorporated into the band's stage show, he did say that artist Rob Dobi will be lending a helping hand. And, though it seems rather clichd to say, Wentz is fulfilling a lifelong dream to launch a tour under the Sendak banner.
"When I was a kid, I wanted to be ['Wild Things' pint-size protagonist] Max when I grew up, which was insane because he was another kid," he said. "I think every parent should read this story to their kid. ... I'm so excited to see [Spike Jonze's upcoming] adaptation of the book. I've only seen one picture but it was stunning. The movie is a long time coming."
