Kelis went into labour on Tuesday, and reports quickly surfaced of her having barred Nas from the delivery room.
Nas posted a video online to announce the new arrival, and to finally reveal the baby’s name:
"My son's name is Knight. That's what I named the young God, Knight," Nas declared. "Y'all heard it first. Don't believe nothing you hear in the media. I love y'all. Don't listen to that bullsh--."
By all accounts having a bun in the oven has proved to be a turbulent time for Kelis. First there was the surprise announcement of the couple’s split in May, reportedly stemming from an unearthed sex-tape of Kelis. Then eight months into the pregnancy, a picture emerged of Nas with two scantily-clad, unidentified women. Kelis followed by setting the Twittersphere ablaze with tirades about infidelity.
Reports of more bad blood and sour milk(shake) between the two came to light when Kelis filed her demands for spousal support, child support, all pregnancy-related expenses, and one half of all medical expenses incurred after the birth.
Nas hit back, claiming she had overstated his income, but agreeing to pay $US5k in child support each month.
