What the Folk? NZ Comedians Conquer US Billboard
Mar 13, 2009
Kiwimedians Flight Of The Conchords may just have passed the point where they can stop claiming to be "New Zealand's Fourth Most Popular Guitar-Based Digi-Bongo Acapella-Rap-Funk-Comedy Folk Duo" and just admit that they're an all-American favourite.
The boy's first album since their TV series Flight Of The Conchords struck a note in the hearts of a population better known for less classy sitcom choices, overcame the canned laughter glut to debut this week at Number 3 on the American Billboard.
The mild and wickedly funny New Zealanders album "Flight of the Conchords" featured reworked songs from the first hit series, and whipped Ashlee Simpson's new album debut "Bittersweet World" on the US charts, which debuted at Number 4. This only goes to show that being the Most Beautiful Girl Wearing Pete Wentz' Ring couldn't muster glory over the Hip Hopopotamuses on their current Boom.
