While parody duo the Bondi Hipsters tried their hand at a DJ set, on a bigger stage real life hipsters Passion Pit drew a large crowd of eager fans at 'Parklife 2012' in Sydney.

The American band, who are familiar with the Aussie festival scene having played at 'Big Day Out' and 'Splendour in the Grass' in 2010, were warmly welcomed back as they opened their set with 'Take A Walk'.

Energetic, beanie-wearing lead singer and keyboardist Michael Angelakos' falsetto voice lead the way through the genre jumping set of mostly happy, feel good beats, while shards of Coldplay's influence were noticeable in songs like 'It's Not My Fault, I'm Happy'.

Playing songs from both their 2009 debut album 'Manners' and their latest record 'Gossamer' released in July this year, the crowd were treated to a mix of poppy, electro-synth sounds, bursts of sampled music, and were even taken back to the 90s with the RnB sounding track 'Constant Conversations'.

Saving the best for last, Passion Pit closed their set with 'Little Secrets', firing canons of confetti showering fans as they sang along underneath a rainbow of sparkles.
