Gotye has provided the soundtrack for this year’s ‘40 Hour Famine' campaign.

According to Music Feeds, the Aussie singer’s song ‘Eyes Wide Open,’ from his record-breaking album ‘Making Mirrors,’ has been chosen for TV ads for the event.

Organised by World Vision Australia, the campaign helps raise funds in an attempt to prevent world hunger.

“We're so excited to have Gotye's track "Eyes Wide Open" on our new 40 Hour Famine TV ad! He generously donated his time and the music rights to the song,” World Vision Australia posted on Facebook.

The commercial will run on Aussie TV from July 15 until the actual event, which will be taking place from August 17-19.

The '40 Hour Famine' is an annual charitable event which started in 1975 and encourages participants to abstain from doing particular things, such as eating a certain food or refraining from talking for 40 hours.
