Following in the footsteps of previous hosts Katy Perry, Eva Longoria and Selena Gomez, Heidi will bring her hosting A-game to the awards show, which is being held this year in Frankfurt’s historic Festhalle.
“I’m honored to host the ‘2012 MTV EMA’ in its return to my home country of Germany,” said Klum, a native of Bergisch Gladbach, just two hours outside of Frankfurt.
“The MTV EMA is one of the biggest nights in global music, fashion and culture, and I’m thrilled to play a part in bringing this one-of-a-kind show to audiences all over the world. We’re going to have a blast!”
Some of the biggest names in music are up for awards this year, with Rihanna and Taylor Swift leading the nominations with six and five nods, respectively, and Justin Bieber and Katy Perry following close behind with four nominations each.
Lady Gaga, Carly Rae Jepsen, fun., Lana Del Rey, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z and Kanye West each received three EMA nominations, while Green Day, Gotye, Pitbull, Rita Ora, Flo Rida, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Jack White and One Direction are up for two awards.
Plus, the ‘Worldwide Act’ category is back for another year! Celebrating the range and breadth of all the talent MTV has to offer, the ‘Worldwide Act’ category showcases incredible artists from all parts of the world – including Australia and New Zealand!
For the first round of voting, 360, Gin Wigmore, Gotye, Kimbra and Temper Trap are in the running to represent Australia and New Zealand. From today, you can vote for your favourite artist, with the winner going on to battle it out for the Asia/Pacific title. Whoever takes out the Asia/Pacific title will go on to compete against acts from all over the globe for the ‘Worldwide Act’ award – so support your favourite artist and get voting now!
