Katy Perry has revealed that celebrities Alanis Morissette and Gwen Stefani inspired her while she was growing up!

In an exclusive first-ever global Skype chat with fans on MSN, the chart topping singer revealed to her followers that she’s very “girl power friendly.”

“A few girls inspired me. I’m very girl power friendly. I guess the most important ones would be Alanis Morissette. I talk a lot about how she inspired me in the movie, and Gwen Stefani.”

The ‘Firework’ even claims that powerful female cartoon characters helped to motivate her!

“Wonder Woman also helped to inspire me,” she added.

But perhaps her real inspiration was a lot closer to home, as the songstress admitted that without her sister, Angela Hudson, she wouldn’t be where she is today.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t be here without my sister, for many reasons. Not just because she’s got me through everything in my life. But when she was really young – she’s two years older than me and you see this dynamic in the movie – I wanted to do everything she did,” Katy told her fans.

And Katy says it was her big sis who encouraged her to head into the music industry in the first place.

“She was the first person who came home with a demo of her singing one summer and I was like, I want a demo of me singing too!

“I love my sister.”

Katy’s new movie ‘Katy Perry: Part Of Me’ is out now in Aussie cinemas.
