Following four years of marriage, Kelis has filed for divorce from Nas. She's citied irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. As we understand it, the irreconcilable difference is Nasir's continuing infidelity while out on tour.
The pair first met back in 2002 at a party hosted by P. Diddy and married two years later. Although their relationship wasn't as high profile as Beyonce and Jay-Z, it was still one of urban music's most publicised.
That's all over now and a spokesperson for Kelis has formally confirmed the split to Vibe magazine: “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce. We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
Kelis is currently seven months pregnant with the couple's first child, so things have obviously hit rock bottom if she's filling for divorce.
Nas is considered one of hip hop's greatest lyricists and has released several platinum-selling albums in a career spanning 15 years. Kelis is best known for her 'Milkshake' single in 2003. She's currently working on a cook book and a line of fashion accessories.
