In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday, Ke$ha’s single ‘Die Young,’ is being pulled from radio rotation across America, due to the nature of its lyrics.

And in a surprising admission, the singer took to Twitter yesterday to express her understanding and reveal she never wanted to sing those lyrics in the first place.

"I understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO." Ke$ha tweeted on Tuesday, but the tweet has since been deleted.

The normally unapologetic and opinionated singer later added another tweet, revealing how saddened she was by the tragedy and the young lives lost.

“I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy. and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express.”
