Actress Lindsay Lohan has been arrested after being accused of bumping into a pedestrian in New York City.
A spokesperson from the New York Police Department told MTV News that the 26-year-old was taken in for questioning after a man claimed that she had clipped him as she drove her Porsche Cayenne into a parking garage at the Dream Hotel on Wednesday morning US time.
The victim, who has been identified as Manhattan chef Jose Rodriguez, was taken to hospital after complaining of a knee injury.
According to the police spokesperson, Lohan was booked for a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident and causing injury, and has been ordered to return for a hearing at a later date.
"With this being a non-fatal accident it was within the criteria of a desk appearance ticket," the NYPD spokesperson told MTV News, before adding that there is no indication that alcohol was involved.
Lindsay’s camp is “confident” that the actress will eventually be found innocent.
"While some of the facts are still being gathered, it appears that this is much ado about nothing,” her rep said in an official statement.
“We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue."
