One Direction fans we’ve got some exciting news - the Brit stars have revealed that they will drop their next single ‘Live While We’re Young’ this October!

The tween heartthrobs made the announcement via Twitter yesterday and included a video message to thank fans for their support.

"We want to say a massive 'thank you' to you guys, 'cause we wouldn't be where we are today without you, so thank you," 1D singer Louis Tomlinson said in the clip.

Their new release will be a track from their next album, which is due to hit the shelves in November!

Meanwhile, in other One Direction news, the famous fivesome will be hosting an exclusive MTV Special called ‘One Direction: My First Time’ ahead of the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards.’

The band, made up of Louis, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Harry Styles, will be appearing at the star-studded event this year for the first time EVER, and in the special they will be sharing their own memories of past VMA performances and their feelings about the upcoming ceremony.

There will also be appearances from fellow performers P!nk, rocker’s Green Day and country beauty Taylor Swift in the exclusive show.
