To refresh your memories, instead of quietly playing down the snub, Miley instead chose to speak publicly of her shame. Revealing how it all went wrong on a radio show in Arizona last week, she recounted how she had begged her manager for an introduction to the legendary band before the awards show, but they had wasted no time in turning down her kind offer of meeting her in her dressing room backstage - reportedly saying, "Yeah, we don't really do that" Ouch.
Recalling the incident, Miley said, "They're like, my rock god. I am obsessed with them. This is the only person I would probably cry over. I would cry! I'd already texted all my friends, we were all freaking out. This is someone who I like would have cried to have met. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone!"
In 2008, Cyrus was listed as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World, and Forbes magazine ranked her #35 on "The Celebrity 100' list with earnings of over US$25 million last year. Radiohead, for their part are one of the world's most influential and respected acts, known for their thrilling live performances, dedication to the craft, and lack of interest in celebrity culture.
In response to this storm in a teacup, Radiohead's publicists released the following statement" "When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement." Oh snap!
Looks like they CAN wait to see her again!
Miley wasn't the only performer to feel the bitter sting of a Radiohead snub on Grammy's night, with Kanye West reportedly miffed that the band didn't make time to see him backstage he told VH1's Storytellers 'I was so hurt that I "sat the f#@* down," when Radiohead took the stage to perform '15 Step' with the USC Marching Band.
In any case, if Miley plans to follow through with her plans to 'ruin them' she needs to get a move on, as Radiohead are all set to record a new studio album and go on tour in the upcoming few months.
But it seems not all UK rockers are indifferent to the teen star in fact, current chart darlings Coldplay exceeded her expectations. "Coldplay was so nice. Chris Martin hung out with me the whole time," she gloated.
Perhaps alluding to the Grammy's night drama, Thom Yorke has since posted a bemused statement on his MySpace page: "Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people i have managed to offend by doing nothing."
