Last night the sassy presenter was named Favorite Female at the 7th Annual ASTRA Awards beating last year’s winner Antonia Kidman to the post.
The first time nominee also had the rare opportunity that every bullied kid dreams of – sticking it the haters on national TV!
"I told my mum I wouldn't cry ... this award goes to my mum, she is the shining star more than I will ever be," Rose said.
"(And) to all those girls who bullied me in high school, where are you now?"
Ruby Rose joined MTV in late 2007, after an arduous audition process competing Jackass style with 2000 other contenders. Standing out with her unique style and eclectic personally, Ruby has owned the MTV post, and has become without a doubt one of the year’s most talked about Aussie celebs.
We always knew Ruby was a shining star, but last month, the Melbourne girl admitted she was not expecting to clinch the prize.
"Antonia Kidman wins everything - she'll probably win," she said.
The good news doesn’t stop there – last year, MTV went hell for leather to bring you the most glamour-filled, sonically inspired and kickass music awards ceremony. And now, thanks to all you peeps in TV Land, MTV have another award to add to our already full-to-overflowing mantle piece - Most Outstanding Event for the MTV Australia Awards 2008.
Naughty celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay nabbed the favourite international personality gong, while Nickelodeon was awarded the coveted Channel of the Year prize.
Congrads again to Ruby and thanks to everyone that voted!
