It’s only a couple weeks away, and the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards’ has another mega act lined up - as Taylor Swift has just been announced to perform!

The 22-year-old beauty is set to debut a new song from her upcoming album ‘Red’ at the bash, which takes place at LA’s Staples Centre on September 7!

"When I was coming up with the name for this album, it seemed crazy because it was really simple," the singer told MTV News.

“I wrote a song called 'Red,' and thinking about what that song means to me and all the different emotions on this album they're all pretty much about the tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships I've experienced in the last two years and all those emotions fanning from intense love, intense frustration, intense jealousy, confusion, all of that in my mind, all those emotions are red,” she added.

The country sweetheart will join already-announced performers Green Day, Pink, Alicia Keys and teen heartthrobs One Direction.

In other exciting news a stack of presenters have just been announced! Hip hop rapper Wiz Khalifa, ex-Disney star Miley Cyrus, rapper Mac Miller and the triumphant US Women’s Gymnastics Team will be handing out gongs on the night.

Stay tuned as more presenters will be announced in the coming weeks!

Don’t miss all the action at the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards,’ which broadcasts live from LA’s Staples Center Friday September 7 @ 9am (11am NZ) on MTV Australia!
