For those of you who haven’t yet caught a glimpse of MTV’s outrageous new reality show, ‘The Valleys’ follows nine youngsters plucked from deep in the heart of the South Wales countryside and thrust into the hustle and bustle of Cardiff to follow their dreams.
Last month, two of the hard-partying stars of the show, aspiring models Jenna and Chidgey, left the green fields of home behind to head Down Under for a whistle-stop promo tour!
We caught up with the pair to talk about their experience on the show so far, find out their pick for the most annoying housemate and get the goss on whether they secretly fancy anyone else in the house…
MTV Australia: Hi guys! So tell us, what’s your experience on ‘The Valleys’ been like so far?
Jenna: It has just been amazing. Like it was so exiting, it was so much fun in the house. It was amazing.
Chidgey: It’s been madness! Like going from doing my regular job to, that day, going into the house. It was just crazy.
MTV Australia: You guys got off to a bit of a rocky start, are you friends now?
Jenna: Yeah we’re friends. Like everyone is really cool from the house. I think we are all really, really, really good friends now aren’t we?
Chidgey: We’ve all had our ups and downs, arguments. There’s loads of stuff to come up. There’s loads and loads of backstabbing. Loads of arguments…but we’re all friends yeah. Keep it in the family!
MTV Australia: Who’s the most annoying person in the house?
Chidgey: I’m gonna have to go for Lateysha.
Jenna: I’m going to have to go for Lateysha as well, because of her diva strops. I love her. She is amazing, but she is the most annoying.
MTV Australia: Is there anyone that you secretly fancy in the house?
Jenna: You’ll have to wait and see, won’t you!
Chidgey: Anyone that we secretly fancy in the house? Not anymore! Not after this, not after I’ve seen their habits! (laughs)
MTV Australia: What sort of careers do you want to get out of the show?
Chidgey: Well I was a brick layer before I went into the show. I want to become an underwear model, or just do clothing. So at certain stages of the show I do shoots with underwear, clothing, we did a beach shoot didn’t we?
Jenna: I’ve got a law degree, but I also want to be a glamour model as well…like if you get a chance to be a model, while you can, you gotta go for it. I’ll always have my law degree, like I’ll always have that behind me, but I’ll definitely go with modeling!
MTV Australia: So what’s Cardiff like? Is it really the city of dreams?
Chidgey: I love Cardiff. ‘Cause it’s like, that’s where we grew up, that’s where we come from.
Jenna: It’s quite a small city but to us, it’s like, compared to where we live it’s totally different.
Chidgey: Oh yeah, so compared to the valleys, it is the city of dreams, yeah of course. There’s a lot more opportunities and as you’ll find out on the show, that’s where we got our opportunities from.
Jenna: Yeah, it’s just been an amazing opportunity for us.
