Best known over here for his collaboration with Rihanna, ‘Live Your Life’, T.I. was picked up by police last year in a weapon sales sting. The 28-year-old rapper (real name Clifford Harris) had sent his security guard out to buy several machine guns and silencers from a local gun-runner. The police somehow got wind of all this and a bunch of people were subsequently arrested.
Since T.I. is a convicted felon, it’s illegal for him to own any guns. Machine guns and silencers are a particularly bad look and he was up for 10 years jail time before he opted to take a plea bargain and plead guilty. For what it’s worth, he said the guns were supposed to be used for self defence, following the murder of a close friend.
T.I. has released six albums since 2001, selling several million copies in the process. He’s hit #1 in the US charts three times; ‘My Love’ (with Justin Timberlake), ‘Whatever You Like’ and ‘Live Your Life’ (with Rihanna).
