It’s been a tough couple of months for Usher , and the RnB star is grateful to his followers for all the support he’s received from them when times have been tough.

The singer was in London this weekend performing at the ‘iTunes Festival’ where he dedicated his hit track ‘Without You’ to the audience.

"I appreciate each and every one of those [messages of support], which is why I performed 'Without You' to my fans," the singer told UK based radio station Capital FM the next day.

"It was intended to be a very intimate moment, just to say thank you for all of their support. You know, my fans are just loyal," he continued.

"They've been there with me through the hardest times; they've been there with me through my greater times."

The 33-year-old tragically lost his step-stop Kile Glover in a jet-skiing accident in July and has been involved in a bitter custody battle for his two sons with his ex-wife Tamika Foster .

This week, Usher will vie for the ‘Best Male Video’ title at the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards’ for his latest release ‘Climax.’ He faces off against protégé Justin Bieber ("Boyfriend"), Frank Ocean ("Swim Good"), Drake (featuring Rihanna, "Take Care") and Chris Brown (Turn Up the Music") for the Moonman.

Don’t miss out on the action at the ‘2012 MTV VMAs,’ which broadcast live from LA’s Staples Center on Friday September 7 @ 9am (11am NZ) on MTV Australia.
