But we thought it would be fun over the holiday period to translate these lofty aspirations into something more real. Let's face it we know what's on their minds. They may say they're resolving to do all sorts of things differently, but underneath they're aiming at something rather different.
So here goes. It's MTV Australia's 2008 translation to the stars.
Paris Hilton Resolution: "To be with my family, and be happy, and maybe find a nice boyfriend." Translation: "To keep shagging as many guys as I can find."
Jessica Alba: Resolution: "I want to be less judgemental of myself." Translation: "Even if I got preggers to make Cash marry me, I still want to feel like a good person."
Jack Black: Resolution: "I just joined a gymnasium. I would go every day, if I was just left alone." Translation: "Will somebody take a photo of me? All the paparazzi ever seems to do is take photos of people in sweaty gym gear."
Nicole Sherzinger: Resolution: "Probably to be more on time. And pray more." Translation: "To be more on time. And I guess I'd better say something about God to keep my American fans happy."
Ashley Tisdale: Resolution: "I don't do New Year's resolutions because oh my gosh, every year I do, I never do it that year." Translation: "Can't I just do surgery instead of having to do that whole, like, resolution thing?"
Fergie: Resolution: "To be less Fergalicious. It's kind of old now. People have said it; they've gone into Burgerlicious, and all these things. It's so over, so last year. New Year, new word. I've got to figure the new word out. But it will come, it will come." Translation: If Fergalicious means weeing oneself, I am definitely ready for a new image."
Sharon Osbourne: Resolution: "I come up with a new resolution every year, and I never stick to it. Because it's always about I'm going to stop spending, I'm going to stop eating, and it's like, no, I'm never going to do it, so I just carry on as I am. I'm just going to eat and drink and eat and drink my way through the next year." Translation: None needed.
Finally someone who is starting the year by telling it as it is !
