Nicki Minaj announces exit from ‘American Idol’ just hours after Mariah Carey
It looks like Mariah Carey just beat Nicki Minaj to the punch with her announcement that she won’t be returning to ‘American Idol’ for another season –with the ‘Pink Friday’ star revealing the very same news of her own this morning!
According to E! News, just two hours after Carey’s exit from the show was announced, Fox released a statement explaining that Minaj would not be returning to her position on the judging panel for season 13.
“Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to ‘American Idol’ and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season,” read the statement.
“Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”
After the announcement from Fox, the outspoken singer took to Twitter to personally share the news with her fans.
“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!”
While Randy Jackson has also announced that season 12 will be the last we see of him on ‘Idol,’ E! News is reporting that Jennifer Hudson may be in line for one of the coveted spots for next season.
We’ll keep you posted!
