HOW CONVENIENT: Sydney Lockout Laws Dropped During Olympics
In a bid to drum up Olympic spirit, the widely criticised lockout laws in Sydney have been relaxed for the Rio Olympics finals so punters can view late night events in public venues.
So we're allowed to have fun just when it suits the government then?
Deputy Premier Troy Grant released a statement on the decision which suggests, "While you might not be able to replicate the atmosphere in Rio, getting down to your local with some friends and cheering on our Aussie heroes has got to be the next best thing."
All venues within the lockout zone as well as outside will be allowed to remain open from 4am to 10am on Sunday August 21 to coincide with the women's basketball and men's football finals.
You'll also be given an extra hour on Monday August 22 to watch the men's basketball final until 5am. NSW government, you're too fkn kind.
Oh, and when the NRL Grand Final is on in October, they'll drop the laws again.
James Mathison recently ripped into the lockout laws for their convenience to the government, watch the video above to hear his rant.
