Ryan Lochte & Fellow Olympic Swimmers Apparently Made The Armed Robbery In Rio Up
With the Olympics being such a topic right now, it's no surprise that the athletes are appearing in the media lime-light. US swimmers Ryan Lochte, Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen are four of the athletes that have made headlines, but not for the right reasons.
Earlier this week the four men made claims that they had been robbed whilst being driven home early Sunday morning. They claimed that their "taxi was stopped by individuals posing as armed police officers who demanded the athletes' money and other personal belongings."
When re-telling the incident on an NBC talk show, Ryan Lochte appeared to make a few changes to details of his original story.
After originally claiming that police had pulled their taxi over on the side of the road, he later claimed that the foursome were stopped at a gas station where they were held at gun point.
Police couldn't seem to find any evidence to confirm the Olympians' story, so have seized the men's passports until further investigations have taken place. At this point though, Lochte has already headed back home to the USA.
Right now police investigations are still taking place, but the signs are pointing to the US swimmer having fabricated the story. If this is true, the men could face charges for the false accusations of a crime.
Uh oh. We don't know what that means for the Olympic athlete's careers, but we hope it is all worked out soon.
