You may not have heard of Sydney band 5 Seconds of Summer yet but we’re willing to bet we’ll be seeing a lot more of these Aussie lads in the months to come – with the band confirming they’ll be supporting One Direction on their 2013 World Tour!
After discovering the band on YouTube last year, the 1D boys have been spending time with 5SOS over the last few months and have announced the four West Sydney teens will be their main support across all UK, USA, Canada, Australian and New Zealand dates.
“We discovered 5SOS on YouTube last year and we all knew straight away they were very special,” revealed Niall Horan.
“We’re so excited to have them on the road with us and we know our fans are going to LOVE what these lads do.”
According to News.com.au, as of this morning the rising pop rockers have amassed over 127,000 followers on Twitter and 66,665 likes on their Facebook account – with their Twitter followers increasing in their thousands every hour.
5SOS members Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin relocated to London two months ago to begin work on their debut album, set for release later this year, and earlier this week released a brand new track called ‘Heartbreak Girl’ on their website.
“Supporting 1D is going to be amazing” drummer Ashton Irwin said today.
“We still can't believe how far we have come since playing our first show at the Annandale a year ago. We love our fans that have continually supported us and can't thank them enough for getting us to where we are today.”
One Direction’s 2013 World Tour kicks off at London’s 02 Arena next Saturday! Click here for full 1D tour dates.
