One Direction join ‘Anchorman 2’ cast on ‘Saturday Night Live’
One Direction grew to Nine Direction over the weekend, after the boy band joined forces with some of the ‘Anchorman’ cast during an appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live.’
Guest host Paul Rudd opened the show with a monologue explaining how he had previously been overshadowed by big acts, but it appeared this time the actor came prepared.
When the 1D boys made their entrance, Rudd responded with: "You've got your boy band, well I've brought my man band," before being accompanied by his ‘Anchorman 2’ co-stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and David Koechner.
While Ferrell claimed he was there to fight, any differences were soon settled with a sing-along to ‘Afternoon Delight.’ Rudd then took a moment to accredit the new group, declaring: “We are Nine Direction.”
One Direction (not Nine Direction) also participated in another skit with the funnyman, in which Rudd played a dad-like fan who had camped out amongst teenage girls to see the band. When the five members finally appeared, Rudd sang along with the girls to ‘Best Song Ever’ before pushing his way to the front to get an autograph.
Along with their comedic performances, 1D also took to the stage to perform songs off their latest album ‘Midnight Memories’ and debuted their new track ‘Through The Dark’.
This marks the recent success of their new album that has had its fourth-best opening week since being released. With a world tour also under their belt along with 1D Day, it seems it’s the cherry on top of a big year for the lads.
