One Direction’s Liam Payne dishes on “rocky” new album
Liam Payne dished the goods to MTV News at the New York premiere of their movie ‘This Is Us,’ and explained that fans can expect a much edgier sound on their third album.
“[It’s a] very rock direction,” revealed the ‘Best Song Ever’ singer. “We actually spent a lot of time writing this album. We’re very proud of it, so we can’t wait for it to come out.
“It’s very live sounding, very rocky,” he added, while also describing the record as “quite retro.”
“But it’s very different so we’re hoping people will kind of adjust to the music with us.”
But Directioners need not fear a total change in the direction on the boys' upcoming album, as according to reports, Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn have worked with the same songwriting team behind their past two albums, ‘Up All Night’ and ‘Take Me Home,’ including producer Julian Bunetta.
“[We] had the chance to work with a lot of great writers and stuff, but we just made it a bit more edgier,” said Liam at a press conference back in May.
“Just subtle changes here and there so it kind of grows as we grow.”
The British heartthrobs recently told Nightline that there will be a total of 10 tracks on the record, which is set for release around Christmas time this year.
