One Direction’s Niall Horan talks ‘Midnight Memories’: ‘This is our favourite’
Nothing depletes the world’s tissue supply like an emotional 1D power ballad.
Hyped by Niall as “the best that we’ve brought out,” the track shows a more mature side to the UK lads, who are currently wrapping up the Australian leg of their ‘Take Me Home World Tour.’
“We just wanted to write something that was true,” songwriter Jamie Scott revealed. “I think with ‘Story of my Life’ it really hits a chord with people that have heard it so far.”
In an interview with Capital FM, Horan also dished on the music vid for the song: “It’s kinda like the song. It’s not very energetic. It kinda explains the story of my life – hence the name of the song,” he admitted.
“We don’t really like doing normal videos because if you’re going to do a video… you want it to be good.”
The single marks the second release from the boys’ third studio album ‘Midnight Memories,’ due out later this year.
“It’s a bit different this time,” the 20-year-old revealed. “We’ve definitely kept our pop melodies and stuff like that.
“We just wanted to change it up a little bit to give it more of an edge and… we gained a lot more creative control. We were able to write a lot more of it.
“It was a much better album this time round,” he added. “This is personally our favourite of the three albums and we’re just really excited.”
‘Story of My Life’ is out now on iTunes.
