Pink Disses Britney
Two of the world’s biggest-selling pop divas are slap-bang in middle of circus-themed world tours right now – but only one of them sings live and she wants the world to know about it.
Pink is currently Down Under on her ’Funhouse’ tour and has been bellowing from the pit of her lungs, breaking sweats like it’s going out of fashion and bedazzling the audience’s retinas with a series of rainbow-coloured outfits and grafity-defying stage stunts on a nightly basis.
Britney Spears, who is on the other side of the world having just embarked on the UK leg of her ‘Circus Tour’ in London, however, appears to be devoting much of her energy to miming.
And Pink is less than impressed. She said: “People want me to hate Britney; I wish her well. But on the other hand, as a musical person, I don't get lip-syncing, either. I never will.
"I don't get how you go and get that for two hours. I grew up watching Broadway, watching these singers blow your heart out of your chest. And Billy Joel f*cking killing you for three hours. That was my first concert when I was two and I remember him sweating on his piano keys.
"That's what I want to see. I could never go watch miming, but more power to her. There's room for everybody.'' (Hmm, yeah, you sound really sure about that, Pink.)
Britterz’ performance hasn’t had UK critics lapping it up either. The Sun newspaper reported: “Take away the dry ice, amazing dancers, video screens and props from Britney Spears’s Circus Tour and what's left? A girl walking around, flicking her hair and miming to some average pop songs.”
Meanwhile, Pink’s shows, complete with a writhing-around-on-a-bed moment have drawn comparison with Madonna’s raunchy tours from the 90s.
Pink doesn’t agree. She told the Courier Mail newspaper: “Madonna was way more sexual and ballsy than I've ever been. I'm probably more of a singer than she'll ever be but she's a sexual force.”
Ooh, Madonna too? Think that’s what they call taking two birds out with one stone, eh Pink?
