'Please Stop': VIC Police Have A Stern Word With Obsessed Pokémon GO Fans
Victorian Police won't say it again: playing Pokémon GO is not included in the list of four reasons Melburnians can leave their house, okay?
Currently, those in Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire are only allowed to leave home to shop for food/essential goods, for work or study, to exercise or to provide care. Though Deputy Commissioner Rick Nugent said police had caught a group of people who were out driving to find Pokémon and had to reiterate that doing so simply wasn’t a reasonable excuse to leave the house. Yep, it's now illegal to catch 'em all.
“We’re finding people in cupboards, we’re finding people in garages… please stop,” Rick added, referring to other rule breakers who tried to hide when the cops rocked up to break up their house parties.
Also today, VIC Premier Dan Andrews stressed again that, while he knew “no one was enjoying” the new restrictions, it was crucial that residents still complied with them to contain the spread of the virus. He said: “Anyone who’s doing the right thing, Victorian police are out in force. Victorian police are out there with a very clear agenda to make sure those restrictions work.”
I know people will be feeling a lot of different emotions tonight.
No one wants to be in this situation.
But in the absence of a vaccine, the only way to defeat this virus is to deprive it of what it needs to spread.

Earlier this week, Dan Andrews said the six-week lockdown would continue “as long as it needs to”. He added: “But it [the lockdown] need not be there for a moment longer than absolutely necessary if everyone simply follows the rules and does the right thing,” Dan Andrews said. He continued, saying he wouldn't rule out implementing further restrictions, but that “we’re not there yet”.
“If you don’t want stage four, if you don’t want the lockdown to last a moment longer, then please follow the rules.”
So there you have it: no more Pokémon GO for now, guys.
