Powderfinger 'On Side' Of Flood Victims
They’re one of Queensland’s best-loved bands – and now, Powderfinger are doing their bit to help raise much needed funds for the victims of flood-ravaged Queensland by releasing a never-before-heard single.
The recently-retired hit makers, who were pressured to reform and hold a concert by a Queensland MP, have announced that 100% of proceeds from the sale of their new track ‘I’m On Your Side’ will go towards those recovering from the disaster.
“The recent floods that ravaged Queensland have saddened and shocked us all. Our sympathies go out to everyone that has been affected and our condolences to those who have lost loved ones” said the Brisbane born and bred rockers in a press release.
‘I’m On Your Side’ was recorded in August 2009 during sessions for the band's last album, ‘Golden Rule’, but was never released, according to abc.net.
The band, who along with many Brissy residents were affected by the ferocious flood waters that ravaged much of the state, also took time to thank the fans who helped lend a hand to the clean up.
“The Powderfinger bandroom at Newstead went under, along with many of our wonderful neighbours' businesses and we thank everyone who came to lend a hand in the clean up.
“We know that Fingers fans are extraordinarily generous and we appeal to you to help out one more time by purchasing our song, or donating to one of the suitable funds.”
