The New ‘Queer Eye’ Cast Is Taking On The Old ‘Queer Eye’ Cast In A Good Ol’ Fashioned Quiz Showdown
Honestly, there is nothing as good as a celebrity catfight, espeically when that catfight involves the super catty and goddamn hilarious cast of ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ and their much younger, arguably more handsome successors. Yep, the new Netflix cast of ‘Queer Eye’ is taking on the OG ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ queens in the celebrity version of American quiz show, ‘Family Feud’.
Now for all you spring chickens playing at home, you’re probably wondering where the hell this “straight guy” came from. Well possums, long before you were throwin’ back Aperol Sprtizes and TikTokin’ there was a ye old ‘Queer Eye’ called ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ and it starred Carson Kressley, Ted Allen, Jai Rodriguez, Kyan Douglas and Thom Filicia.
It was the OG, and god it was good. Thom would step into a hetero bachie pad and shreik, “My God, it's like a Toys-R-Us crack den!”. Kyle would say, “Bro, this place is a shithole, basically”. And Carson, well, it was zinger after zinger. “ANDREW! You only have two pairs of pants! What, there might be some? You don't have a complete inventory of all your couture?” Andrew, seriously, WTAF.
So while this catfight is a little more mediated (BOO), it will no doubt be juicy AF.
Kressley, of course, has already started throwing shade. "I can't wait to mop the floor with your cute little buns," he told current Queer Eye-er Bobby Berk on a Zoom call. In the teaser video, he revealed the big announcement.
"Are you ready for some big news?" Um, YES, Carson, we are.
"I just scored some 2-ply!" L. O. L. Classic, CK. He then throws his lush toilet paper roll behind him to reveal "bigger news" and adds Berk to the call.
"Bobby! Hey! I wanted you to be here when we told everyone that the OG Queer Eyes are going to be taking on the new class on the season premiere of Celebrity Family Feud.”
"Oh honey, that's really cute that you think you're going to win, but we surveyed 100 people and they all think we're gonna win," Berk bites back. SEE, it’s already good.
Kressley then added the rest of the OG “Fab Five” to the call as "reinforcement”.
"Not only are we going to win, but we're going to look real good doing it," Jai Rodriguez quipped slapping a name tag on his polished chest. Meanwhile Ted Allen wanted to let us know he can’t stop baking "quarantine bread”. Er, thanks Ted.
Then it went back to Berk: "My boys, we're ready to steal," and Tan France and everyone’s fave Wesley Hamilton all of a sudden appeared.
Hamilton, lifting weights, said: "The guys and I have been training hard for this”. Aaand that’s why we love him.
Then France came on all diplomatic. "Antoni and Jonathan are in full on feud prep mode, but do not get too cocky,” he said.
“We all know that there is only one person who gets to decide the true winner" - AKA the show’s iconic host, Steve Harvey.
Hamilton, who is stepping in for Karamo Brown on the new team, will join Berk, France, Jonathan Van Ness and Antoni Porowski in the showdown against the OG Fab Five. While we won't get the original airing here in Australia, we have no doubt there will be plenty of videos available online.
With the perfectly manicured claws already out - honey, this is going to be GOOD.
