Riverdale Have Unmasked Their New Reggie & He's A Total Babelord
Riverdale fans, say hello to the new face of Reggie Mantle.
The CW have announced hunkasaurus newcomer Charles Melton will replace OG actor Ross Butler as Archie's jock nemesis in the second season of the much-frothed teen murder drama, after Butler exited the show due to scheduling conflicts with his other gig over at 13 Reasons Why.
So what do we know about Charles Melton? Well, he's a Korean model who's starred in campaigns for powerhouse fashion brands like Armani and MAC cosmetics, but who's relatively new to the acting scene apart from scoring a few bit roles in shows like Glee and American Horror Story.
Oh, he's also rocking a veryyyyyy chiselled physique BTW.
Dayyyyyyyym. Better watch your back, Archiekins!
What's more, outgoing Reggie, Ross Butler, has already given his replacement a nod of approval in a new video posted to Twitter.
“I’m so happy that The CW, Greg [Berlanti], Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], David [Rapaport] and Sarah [Schechter] gave me, an Asian-American, a chance to play a traditionally-caucasian character, Reggie,” Butler says in the clip.
“In light of recent casting news, I am even more excited and more proud that they decided to keep Reggie Asian-American. It means a lot to me, it means a lot to the Asian-American community, and so I just wanted to say thank you guys again, one more time. I support Charles Melton all the way, passing the baton off.”
