Robbie Williams For ARIAs
Comeback star Robbie Williams has inked a deal to perform at the ’2009 ARIA Awards’ in November.
The megawatt music maestro is set to sing his new single, ’Bodies’, at the bash and it will signal one of his first live appearances following his two-and-a-half-year break from the pop scene.
The ceremony takes place on November 26 at the Acer Arena in Sydney and Robbie – who’s sold over 2.5 million albums in Oz - will combine his performance with a three-day promotional of the country.
The Robster’s appearance is a big coup for show organizers. ARIA Chairman Ed St John said: "To be honest, this landed in our lap. (Robbie’s EMI boss) Mark Poston asked if we would like Robbie Williams at the ARIAs and everyone said, 'Are you kidding?'
“P!nk's incredible appearance last year added enormous value to the show, so of course you would jump at a decision to have a superstar of that calibre again."
Meanwhile, rubbery-faced Rob has been talking about his new-found obsession with aliens.
In a UK radio interview over the weekend, he explained: "I was out one night, half past ten on the patio of a hotel in LA. There was a girl to my right and she was lying down on the sun lounger.
"We were both looking up at the stars, then the stars weren't there any more and a football field-sized whatever you like to call it passed over the top of us, blocked out all of the stars.
"It moved silently and was matt black underneath and square. I couldn't explain it."
Er, we’re sure your ARIAs performance will be similarly out of this world, Rob…
Robbie’s new album ’Reality Killed The Video Star’ is out on November 6
