Dami Im wins ‘The X Factor Australia’
Queenslander Dami Im has been crowned the winner of ‘The X Factor Australia’ for 2013!
The 25-year-old beat Ronan Keating’s lads Taylor Henderson and Jai Waetford in last night’s grand final, and her debut single ‘Alive’ is already available digitally thanks to her new recording contract with Sony Music.
Im was originally sent home during the boot camp round after forgetting the lyrics during a performance, but was later given a second chance after the another contestant left the competition.
The Korean-born Australian, who was mentored by Dannii Minogue, was over-the-moon following the announcement on last night’s live show.
“I don’t believe that I’ve won. This is crazy,” she said during the broadcast.
“I don’t think I won because I am better than anyone else. I just believe God has given me this talent for a purpose. I want to win this for people like me who are dags and inspire them to dream big.”
Homegrown favourite Guy Sebastian also took the stage to perform his new single, ‘Like A Drum.’
The top five contestants from this series of ‘The X Factor’ will soon be heading into rehearsals for their national tour, which will hit Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth next month.
Dami’s track ‘Alive’ is currently sitting at No. 1 on the Australian iTunes singles chart.
