Sam Smith Reveals He Is Non-Binary In "Life-Changing" Interview
Grammy winner Sam Smith has opened up in a new interview about his gender identity and divulged he is "not male or female".
Just Jared reports that the 26-year-old singer revealed all in a very personal interview with Jameela Jamil in her new series 'I Weigh Interviews' posted yesterday.
During the heart-to-heart, Jameela asked what “non-binary, genderqueer” identity means to Sam.
“You do not identify in a gender. You are just you…you are your own special creation. That is how I take it. I am not male or female. I think I float somewhere in between — somewhat on the spectrum,” Sam said.
A few months ago, I sat down with @jameelajamil and spoke with her for her incredible @_iweigh movement. I know this sounds dramatic but this interview completely changed my life. Watch in full on my IGTV now (please be kind haha) xx pic.twitter.com/IMDLSUayso

“I’ve always had a bit of a war in my body and my mind…I do think like a woman in my head at times,” the 'Dancing with a Stranger' singer said. “I’ve sometimes sat there and questioned, do I want a sex change? It’s something I still think about, but I don’t think it is.”
“I’ve always been very free in terms of thinking about sexuality. I’ve tried to change that into my thoughts on gender…when I move, when I have sex with men, it’s very feminine. I’m feminine in many ways — and I’ve resented that.”
