Actress Lynn Cohen, Who Played The Iconic Magda In ‘Sex And The City’, Has Passed Away
We all remember Magda, the chaste, caring housekeeper that kept Miranda in check for seasons of Sex And The City and later on the big screen, too.
Lynn spoke about her role on SATC with Cosmopolitan back in 2018, and why she thought it was an important part to play.
"It showed a woman of a different age who was smart as the devil, very bossy, and also understood sexuality, and they needed that. It enlarged the canvas on which they were working, that they would not have a typical old lady molding away in some retirement home somewhere, but a woman who worked, and didn't suffer fools," she said.
Many people knew and loved Lynn Cohen as Miranda’s stalwart Polish nanny Magda. To me she was that and so much more—an involved citizen, a true friend, and a great actress in so many different roles. Here is one of my favorites: Lynn playing Golda Meir in the movie Munich. I will miss her so much.
You might also recognise Lynn as 'Mags' on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The actress also appeared in Across the Universe, as well as TV shows including Law & Order and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Her theatre credits on Broadway span decades.
Lynn was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1933, and is survived by her husband, Ronald, who she had been married to for more than 50 years.
