Shane Dawson’s Kinda Sister-In-Law Morgan Adams Addresses The YouTuber's Controversial Past

Welcome, Morgan.

Shane Dawson’s future sister-in-law Morgan Adams has weighed in on his recently resurfaced and incredibly problematic videos, saying watching them makes her uncomfortable.

In a new video that dropped yesterday (Wednesday), Morgan – sister to Shane’s fiancé Ryland Adams – shared her thoughts on the old clips that show Shane joking about pedophilia, using blackface and making other racist comments.

“It makes me uncomfortable to watch them because when I watch them I’m like ‘who is that?’,” she said. “I don’t feel like that’s a person that I know.”

She went on to say it was a difficult situation to comment on because she wasn’t an outsider, “someone who’s watched Shane on the Internet for years”. “This is somebody that I hang out with in real life, this is somebody that I consider to be a friend, a mentor, a family member. And I just want to say that I’m not defending anything that has been said in the past,” she said.

“I’ve known Shane for three maybe four years now and the Shane that I’ve hung out with and lived with has always been gracious and kind and understanding. He’s always been willing to help everyone. The person that I see from day to day in a non-YouTube, not filming, not trying to be entertaining – that Shane isn’t even in the same stratosphere as the Shane as you get to see in these older clips.”

She went on to say – in somewhat of a confusing ramble, might I add – that there was a difference between saying you’ve changed and actually changing, and saying you’re a nice person and actually being a nice person.

“I see these old videos of Shane and I’m like wow, I don’t even recognise this person. That is what makes me believe – based on actions – that somebody is actually nice or that somebody has actually changed. Because people can tell you things all day long but it’s their actions that mean the world.”

Morgan’s name was last dragged into the never-ending beauty YouTuber drama earlier this month when fans noticed she’d unfollowed Jeffree Star. An interesting move considering Shane and Jeffree appear to still be friends.

In Jeffree’s apology video, he said: "I know Shane from now. I don't know Shane from 10 years ago, and he doesn't know me from 10 years ago. Now do I agree with Shane's past actions? Of course I don't. And does he agree with my past behaviour? Of course he doesn't. I know the amazing person he is today, and you don't abandon your friends."

You can watch the whole clip below. Morgan gets into the stuff with Shane at the 25-minute mark.
