Morphe Pulls Shane Dawson’s Entire Makeup Range From Online Store As Controversy Continues
It’s been one blow after the next for Shane Dawson after old videos resurfaced of the YouTuber in blackface and joking about paedophilia.
The latest? It looks like beauty e-tailer Morphe has pulled his entire makeup range from its online store.
This week, fans noticed Shane Dawson’s Conspiracy Collection, created with supposed best friend and frequent collaborator Jeffree Star, was no longer for sale on the site – which, considering the palette is one of the most in-demand product ranges, is a big deal.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics products, however, are currently still selling on Morphe.
Also this week: Target told Insider it was removing Shane’s books from its shelves; YouTube demonetised his channels; and four eps from his 2019 web series were blocked due to copyright infringement claims from Sony.
All this kicked off after Shane filmed an ill-conceived apology video titled "Taking Accountability". The video was, we assume, meant to pre-emptively counteract negative media surrounding the YouTuber, who had long been known for his old racist content. But it ended up backfiring against him, with fans doing more digging into his channels and finding yet another disturbing video: this time of Shane pretending to masturbate to a poster of then-11-year-old Willow Smith. As you'd imagine Willow's family were very concerned and angry on discovering this content.
To add further fuel to the bonfire, Tati Westbrook then released a 40-minute video calling out Jeffree and Shane for gaslighting her to make her go against James Charles, and claiming their "lies" to be behind "Bye Sister".
As always, keep it here cause we’re bring you all the YouTuber updates – no doubt there will be many more.
