Bardot Have Reunited To Sing ‘Poison’ For Charity & It’s What The World Deserves Right Now
The beauty amongst this isolation is strangely how the world is coming together. And one of the best examples is our favourite 2000s girl group Bardot ‘re-banding’ for charity.
2020 marks the 20-year anniversary of the formation and debut of Bardot from the Aussie TV series Popstars. To celebrate the momentous occasion, one hardcore fan has started an Instagram account dedicated to what’s been coined as the #Bardot2020Challenge.
I present to you the #bardot2020challenge. Inspired by @chantellegence's post, I propose a challenge. If at least 4 other members upload an a capella rendition of Poison to Instagram, I will donate $200 to a charity of collective choosing. Now that @tiffs_tribeof6 has done her part, we need 3 more girls. In a time where we're all separated, we can still share memories and connect with old friends and have some fun. You have until April 11. Who will it be? @misspoli @sophiemonk @katieunderwoodhealing @belindachapple? . . . . . @warnermusicaustralia #bardot2020challenge #bardotpopstars
As the challenge sets out, at least four of the members of the group must post an a cappella version of their hit single ‘Poison’ for this fan to donate $200 to charity.
Quarantine got the better of me...it’s been 20 years since I’ve even heard this song, let alone sung it but here goes! I hope you guys enjoy @bardot2020 music 🎶 @bardotofficial_ 🎤 @bardotpopstars 🙌🏽 #poison #bardotreunion #popstarsaustralia #chantellebarry #chantellegence #notapianist #100percenthuman #bardot2020challenge #bardot2020
To the fan’s amazement since posting the challenge less than a day ago, Chantelle Barry (the original Bardot member who posted a cover that inspired the challenge), Katie Underwood, Belinda Chapple and Tiffani Wood have uploaded their renditions.
Now we’re waiting to see if Sophie Monk will complete the full set.
Check out our chat with Sophie Monk on MTV Australia’s Recess:
The challenge has now also extended to the fans, with many posting their covers of ‘Poison’. As @bardot2020 puts it, it’s time to “spread some fun and nostalgia during this time of uncertainty!”
Sophie Monk has until April 11 to get in on the #Bardot2020 challenge, but with four of the girls in on the challenge, the Instagram account will be donating $200 to a “charity of collective choosing”.
Congrats girls – nothing like a bit of Bardot girl power to get us through this bizarre season.
