Sophie Turner Says She Scored A Role Over A "Better Actress" Coz She Had More Followers
Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner has revealed she once scored a role over a "far better actress" because she had more followers on social media.
Sophie AKA Sansa, currently has over 1.3 Million Twitter followers, 5.4M on Instagram and 2.1M on Facebook, and she reckons her huge following has helped her land roles.
Speaking to Net-A-Porter's The Edit magazine, she revealed why she thinks social media has changed the movie industry.
"A lot of what I have achieved is about timing and luck, but it is also, and I hate to say it, about a big social-media following," she told the mag.
"I auditioned for a project and it was between me and another girl who is a far better actress than I am, far better, but I had the followers, so I got the job. It's not right, but it is part of the movie industry now."
The 21-year-old actress admitted she now thinks twice before posting online due to the number of followers she has.
"It was so gradual that I still treated my life and my social media like I wasn't in the public eye. I was a 15-year-old girl writing rash political stuff that would get a negative reaction and my team would tell me to take it down," she said.
"Now I am learning to keep my mouth shut."
