Victoria Beckham reveals the Spice Girls are done for good
Fellow Spice Girls fans, today is a sad day (almost as sad as when the group actually split up in 2000).
In an interview with Vanity Fair Spain for their February issue Victoria Beckham said that while it was a great honour, and she was “so proud,” to reunite with the other girls during their opening ceremony performance at the 2012 London Olympics, she “won’t ever do it again.”
“I was filled with pride to be British [when performing at the Olympics]. It was the perfect time to say ‘This has been a blast. Thank you very much to all, but it’s over.’ Sometimes you have to know when to leave the party,” the former Posh Spice said.
In a recent interview with French Vogue the 39-year-old admitted that she knew back in 2008 that the Spice Girls were “finished for good,” while on their final reunion tour performance at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“The other girls spent time relaxing in bed, shopping and in the gym before heading off to the sound check. I arrived with three kids in tow in a really tight dress because I'd been in meetings all day...I just wanted to be elsewhere,” she said.
So it seems we will have to be content with watching re-runs of ‘Spice World’ and singing along to ‘Wannabe’ in our bedrooms, wistfully remembering the glory days of the world’s biggest girl-band.
