Years & Years’ Olly Alexander Wants Our PM To ‘Fkn Legalise’ Gay Marriage
Years & Years hit up Byron Bay to play a set at this year’s Splendour In The Grass, and MTV Australia had a chance to chat with the boys from across the pond about one of the biggest topics in Australia today: the gay marriage plebiscite.
Olly Alexander, the band’s singer and an out musician who has been incredibly vocal about LGBT matters spoke about the need for gay marriage to be legalised Down Under, stating that he’s “100%” behind a plebiscite in Australia.
“Gay marriage is a really important step forward for equality…but it doesn’t mean equality. The U.K. have it and America, but we’re still far from [equality],” Olly said.
The ‘King’ singer also delivered this short and sweet message to our PM Malcolm Turnbull about gay marriage: “F*ckin’ legalise it mate! Just let us marry dude!”
C’mon Malc! You heard him! Lets finally get this show on the road and legalise gay marriage in Australia!
