8 Ways To Make Your Place Look Fancy AF This Xmas
Christmas is *literally* just around the corner, and if you've somehow ended up agreeing to host lunch for your pals (or, god forbid, parents), giving your apartment a once over and chucking on some Christmas carols just WON'T cut it. We're living in the Instagrammable era of 2018, after all.
Making your place look shmick this silly season doesn't have to be a punish...in fact, spreading joy around your humble abode over Christmas can be easy as pie (or Christmas pud).
That's why we've teamed up with our friends at Swarovski to show you 8 ways you can make your digs look fancy AF this Christmas. Your parents will wonder what you've done with their child.
1. Get Artsy
You don't need to spend a fortune decking out your share house with ~festive art~
All you need to make your walls look Christmas-sy is a bunch of Xmas-inspired postcards and a handful of cheap photoframes...and voila, those scratches and scuffs from your last house party are no more!
2. Make It Lush
If you live in a skyrise apartment...or a carpeted place, we don't recommend spending your cash on an authentic Christmas tree that will not only shed pine needles you'll be cleaning up well into 2019, but will take four creepy neighbours to move in and out of your living room.
Why not go for a mini tree, decorated with a crystal ball, or for those with a green thumb, a Christmas terrarium that can provide lush vibes all year round (provided you water it).
3. Throw Some Shade
Christmas is all about setting the *mood*...and a spiffy lampshade will do just that. Chances are you're already the proud owner of a lamp or two, with the right lamp shade, Christmas at yours is set to be LIT.
4. Channel 'Mad Men'
There's a certain level of old school class that comes with serving your guests a cocktail from a bar cart. Channel your inner Mad Men this Christmas and invest in a trolley for your drinks. Add a couple of fancy glasses and Don Draper won't know what's coming for him.
5. Cushion For The Pushin'
If that couch your mum's friends, brother's colleague palmed off to you when you moved in is looking a little lack lustre this party season, get creative with your cushions. Got the cushions? Treat yourself to some Chrissie covers.
6. Let There Be Light
Planning an outdoor soirée this Christmas? Make it fancy with clever lighting. A string of fairylights wrapped around a tree will provide major garden party feels, while a couple of strategically-placed lanterns will make your garden, balcony, or communal flower patch look inviting AF.
7. Be A Gift Giver
Yeah, Christmas is an awesome time to recieve gifts...but what about giving them? Show off all the hard work you did trying to find your dad his favourite pair of socks by carefully wrapping your gifts in pretty paper and placing them in clear sight under the tree (or Christmas terrarium).
8. Set The Table
It's all well and good to sort your food, festive decorations, and gifts, but if you haven't set your table, mum's gonna be p*ssed! Pick a colour scheme - gold and white or perhaps, silver and red - and go for it. These days Target and Kmart are bringing it when it comes to affordable table decorations. Once you've got the basics, make sure you add a little something special, like this lovely little reindeer.
