After An Intense Showdown Taylor Swift Has Been Given The Green Light To Play Her Old Tunes At The AMAs
Taylor has been battling her old record label for the rights to perform her back catalogue as they own her songs’ masters.
With her Artist of the Decade performance coming up at the American Music Awards, tensions have been running high as she was originally barred from singing her own songs.
But in the next chapter of this tale, BMLG has released a statement to Billboard saying they have “agreed to grant all licenses of their artists' performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms, " the statemet read. "It should be noted that recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media."
"Record label approval is only needed for contracted artists' audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed."
Though Taylor isn’t explicitly mentioned, it’s definitely off the back of her letter she posted on Twitter earlier this week.
Well, aren’t we all relieved? Now we can definitely tap our boots to her earlier country bops.
There’s still no confirmation that Taylor will go ahead with her medley, but we’re sure hoping this hasn't put a sour taste in her mouth.
