Alex Nation's Teen Mom Australia Episode 1 Recap
Catch up on the first episode of Teen Mom Australia above.
Alright fellow reality TV aficianados, Teen Mom Australia is full steam ahead and I am so here for this!
We launch into the first episode in quite possibly the best city in Australia, Melbourne, where we meet Ammi who is mum to one-and-a-half-year-old Jiyah, and her partner, Jordi. The ep jumps straight into quintessential #mumlife chat with “he’s done a shit” and Ammi and Jordi discussing said shit (*Instert grunting/straining poo noises*).
The cute little fam also parent *cough* I mean live with Ammi’s sister Katya who we later discover is probably more work than Jiyah but hey, guys it's early days so lets give the gal a chance and pray she cleans the windows next week so Ammi doesn’t lose her shit. Oh and thanks for the fruit loops hun!
Ammi, casually dropped a bomb on us all and announced that she is pregnant with baby number 2. HECTIC!
At her age I had had my son Elijah and it was such an extremely challenging time. I have never been more exhausted in my entire life.
Ammi is gearing up to do that all over again and I’m literally sitting here thinking, you’re amazing... a little crazy, but amazing.
Ammi is in complete shock over the news and I just want to give her a cuddle. You’ve got this girl!
Lastly, can we please talk about Jordi’s no F’s given kitchen attire. I mean the guy is wearing a fluffy pink robe and a bucket hat that my grandfather would wear fishing. I think I love him.
Now, we head to Sydney where we meet Georgie who is 20 years old with a very active toddler, Evie. Georgie is faced with the challenges of a non-stop two-year-old being able to run almost any mum into the ground with their endless supply of energy.
She doesn’t get much help from Evie’s father, John, who is her ex boyfriend. John travels a lot for work but when he is around, he seems to love to be a part of Evie's life. Despite Georgie’s hope to rekindle their relationship, he seems to have ahhh... moved on.
This is pretty clear when we watch them have a conversation which is mostly filled with awkward silences and one syllable words. You could say John is quite the conversationalist. Georgie’s Mum, Kelly, has a simple message when it comes to John; “DUMP THE DOUCHE” and get on with your life!
Kelly herself is a new mum to one-year-old Kingston. Yep that means that Evie's uncle... is younger than her. All that being said, you can tell Georgie’s Mum is her number one support network and she is finding it hard not having her close by anymore to help.
Will John get a “Dear John" letter in the next coming ep!? I’m also here for the irony of this.
Now, I know I’m not meant to have favourites, but who doesn’t love a big Tongan family! Enter Sita, her partner Thomson and their baby Andrew aka ‘Baby', who are all are living at home with her big Tongan family.
“Unofficial” boyfriend Thomson, is playing the partner/co-parent role pretty well. When the couple decided to move to Thomson's home of considerably less people... he sat in the firing line of Sita's family meeting where they “announced” their impending departure and he didn’t flinch, not once.
Maybe that was because Sita's protective father was conveniently not there. LOL, such a classic move and something I so would have done. So after an awkward moment, they all broke out into song. I can relate, when I find myself in awkward scenarios I break out into Celine Dion, works a damn treat.
Sita’s mum Seini is also one tough love mumma. She came out and said that she is OK for them to move out. So long as they leave Baby behind for her to care for and take to the Tongan doctor for Tongan medicine “crap”. I'm really intrigued as to what Tongan medicine is so I might slide into Sita’s DMs to find out and let you all know next recap.
