Pls Enjoy This Very Thorough Timeline Of The Veronicas Biggest Career Highlights
The Veronicas have accomplished a lot since they came on the scene back in 2001.
So, in light of the twinnies upcoming reality TV show 'The Veronicas: Blood Is For Life' with yours truly, we thought now would be the perfect time to take a good ol' walk down memory lane and dive head-first into all the sister’s most iconic career moments.
From acting gigs and Target collabs, to breaking records held by pop queen Kylie Minogue – it’s been a wild ride for your fave pop princesses. Strap in.
2001: Dem(o) Days
Cast your mind back to 2001 – the simple days of dial-up internet, when your biggest responsibility in life was remembering to feed your Neopet. This was also the year when Brisbane twins Lisa and Jess Origliasso, just 17, first came on to the music scene.
The girls made a demo with Brissy producer Stuart Stuart at Analog Heart Records. They dabbled in electronic for a while, but soon found their calling in pop rock.
2004: ‘Teal’ Become 'The Veronicas'
Fun fact! Before The Veronicas were The Veronicas they actually used to perform under the band name ‘Teal’.
In 2004 (around the same time you were savagely ranking your ‘Top Friends’ on MySpace) the girls met Robin Donald Smith, an established operatic singer, at a gig. He knew some people, and got the twins an audition at Multiplay Music Australia, who eventually signed ‘em to their first publishing deal.
Soon after, the reps at MultiPlay sent the girls around the world to write songs with some of the most talented musos in the world – the same peeps who'd previously worked with Avril Lavigne, Madonna and Cyndi Lauper.
2005: A Record Deal & An Album
The girls signed with Sire America, an offshoot of Warner Bros. Records. Seymour Stine signed them – you know, the same guy who signed Talking Heads, Ramones and The Pretenders and, just casually, Madonna(!!!).
The Veronicas released their debut album on October 17, 2005 and we all collectively lost our sh*t. The album eventually went 4x platinum with tunes like ‘4ever’, ‘Everything I'm Not’, and ‘When It All Falls Apart’ becoming Aussie pop classics.
2006: The Veronicas Take The Comics World By Storm
Remember when The Veronicas were in a comic book?! ICYMI, the girls featured in Archie Comics’ Veronica comic a few times – where their cartoon selves had all kinds of fun adventures with comic character Veronica and her star-struck pals. Oh for the sweet, innocent days of 2006.
April 2007: The Veronicas As ~Actors~
The twins TV stardom goes all the way back to 2001 when they were cast as scary twin villains in everyone’s favourite techy TV show, Cybergirl.
The girls also appeared on a special ep of US sitcom The Suite Life as guest stars in 2007 and performed their song ‘Cry’. Please enjoy this behind-the-scenes throwback we stumbled upon.
August 2007: Fashion Queens
That's right, the 22-year-old pop princesses launched their very own fashion line at Target. How did we miss this?!
Touted as a ‘sweet but edgy’ collection for young girls and teens, the range included dresses, skirts and tees. Cherries, skull hearts and bats featured heavily in the designs.
December 2007: !!!!Untouched!!!!
The girls got their violins out. Yep, everyone’s fave pop song of the year, ‘Untouched’, was released in 2007 as a single on the twin’s second studio album, Hook Me Up.
It will forever be etched into our hearts, minds, bodies and souls. Some other bangers from the hit multi-platinum album include ‘Take Me On The Floor’, ‘Hook Me Up’ and ‘This Love’.
‘Untouched’ would go on to make music history in the US. The song reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2009, making the Veronicas the first Australian pop act to crack the top 20 since Kylie Minogue.
It also was one of the songs in video game FIFA 09 lol.
July 2012: Enter ‘Lolita’
Due to be the lead single on their third studio album, Lolita was released in July 2012 and saw a move away from the girls’ pop roots in favour of a darker, electronic sound.
2014: The Twins Sign With Sony
The Veronicas part ways with Warner Bros and sign a record deal with Sony Music. The girls go on to release their third album, The Veronicas.
2016: ‘In My Blood’ Happened
2016 was a solid year for the girls. ‘On Your Side’ was released on October 14, 2016 and ~that~ steamy music video followed soon after.
‘In My Blood’ – arguably one of the twin's best pop tunes – also dropped.
Nov 2016: ~That~ Arias Performance
Three words: red glitter boobs. In between hosting duties, the girls performed their new hit, ‘In My Blood’ at the 30th Annual ARIAs in nothing but red glitter from their midriff up. Completely groundbreaking and completely iconic. Yassss queens!!
2017: !!!!Untouched!!!! Again
We kinda expected ‘Untouched’ to go the way of most pop songs: slowly fade from our memories and into music’s hall of fame. A much-loved but distant memory. If anything, though, ‘Untouched’ is more popular than it’s ever been.
Around 2017, Untouched-related memes began surfacing on the internet and the number of ppl professing their undying love for the tune has exploded in recent years. Here’s a few of the best of ‘em.
there's a certain sadness but also peace in knowing that no human relationship can bring me the same joy as "untouched" by the veronicas

And then Splendour In The Grass happened. We’ll never forget when Allday brought The Veronicas onstage to perform ‘Untouched’ and the crowd absolutely lost it. It will go down in history as one of Splendour's most legendary moments.
March 2019: Comeback
After taking some time away from the spotlight, The Veronicas came back into the fold in a big way this year, dropping their melancholic single, ‘Think Of Me’, in March. They performed the single live on MTV TRL - catch it here.
