A prequel series to 'The Walking Dead’ is on the way!
Exciting news for all those Walking Dead fanatics out there! The most popular drama on TV right now is getting a prequel series.
Creator of the beloved Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman has already filmed a pilot with Sons of Anarchy producer Dave Erickson under the titles ‘Cobalt’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and has been commissioned by AMC for two seasons.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, earlier this week, AMC confirmed the show’s setting will be Los Angeles and that the series will feature a set of new characters and storylines.
New characters include a teacher known as Sean Cabrera who’s a divorced dad romantically involved with a guidance councillor (Nancy) at the same school and their respective children.
Cabrera’s son Nick is apparently a drug addict, while Nancy’s daughter has hopes of getting into Berkley before the Zombie nightmare begins.
In a statement on Monday, Charlie Collier, AMC President revealed this companion series will also answer the burning questions all fans of the flagship series have asked themselves at least once.
“From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did 'turn.' Through this new series, we’re going to find out.”
Kirkman added: “I’m very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven't scratched the surface yet when it comes to The Walking Dead.”
Three words: Can’t. F*cking. Wait.
